A Patriots’ Proposal

When David Murdock wanted to propose to his girlfriend Emily Browning, he knew exactly where to do it -- Washington High School (WHS) Room B122. That’s where Murdock, a 2014 WHS graduate, first met Browning, a 2015 WHS graduate, back in 2011 when they both took Tina Allen’s Spanish Class.

WHS Secretary Alisa Myatt said she helped coordinate the proposal with WHS Principal Judy Marcus.

“David had reached out to me since I work at WHS and I asked Mrs. Marcus for permission for this to occur. It requires A LOT of lies on everyone’s part to get her into the school and into the room!”

On January 27, 2020, Emily entered her old classroom to find it filled with balloons and a lighted “Marry Me” sign. David said there was nowhere else this could have happened.

“WHS is special to us because we received a great education that prepared us for a bright future; but more importantly, we found each other and have been able to build that future together.”

We wish Emily and David all the best in their life together!
