Students Upgrade Media Center Shelves

Students in Mr. Cunnien's Agriculture Equipment and Repair/ Agriculture Mechanics class are helping our Media Specialist stay sane. Mrs. Curry explained to these students that she was frustrated with the double sided shelves. There was no boundary between the two sides of the shelves, and the books would often inadvertently get pushed from one side to the next and be out of order. So, the students took on the task of fixing this as a Simulated Workplace project. According to Mr. Cunnien, "it's all them". The students have taken ownership and responsibility for the job. They created wooden planks to install between the two sides of the shelves, and even came up with an installation method that could be easily removed, in case there is a need in the future. It is so amazing to see these students working hard to make our school better, working independently, and taking ownership of a task with real world implications. Washington High School has been incorporating the Simulated Workplace model as part of their CTE programs and this is an excellent example of what we can accomplish in a Simulated Workplace setting. Thank you gentlemen, for working hard to improve our school!
