WHS Virtual Academy

This page was created in order to streamline specific communication about the Jefferson Virtual Academy as it pertains to its delivery through Washington High School.

Many Virtual Academy General Resources are available from the County BOE website at this link: http://jeff.ss18.sharpschool.com/departments_and_services/jefferson_virtual_academy

Virtual and Remote Learning Tips for Success:

1.Wake up, get dressed, and get ready for school like you would when attending in person. Experts recommend this even for adults working from home.

2. Follow the regular school day schedule. Use this Google Doc to help you stay organized within our bell schedule:

3. Stay organized with assignments.

4. Use the "to-do" feature of Google Classroom.

5. Attend your live classroom sessions as much as possible.

6. If you cannot attend a live session, watch the posted recording to catch up on what you missed.

7. Use the teacher's office hours and communicate your needs. Many teachers are willing to set up one on one sessions as needed.

8. If you have a question that you can't address on the live session, or you missed the live, send your teacher a message in livegrades, or an email.

9. Check your livegrades daily.

10.  IF YOU ARE SICK, PLEASE LET YOUR TEACHER KNOW, ATTENDANCE IS TAKEN ACCORDING TO THE WORK THAT IS DONE ON A DAILY BASIS AND/OR ATTENDANCE TO LIVE SESSIONS.  Excused absences will need to be reported to our attendance secretary, Alisa Myatt. Parents may call the school to speak with her, or send her a note via email amyatt@k12.wv.us to verify that the absence is excused. It is the student's responsibility to review Google Classroom content and contact the teacher regarding missed work and to schedule test make-ups.

11. Review the tech resources on the county JVA page, there is a lot of information available to help you. http://jeff.ss18.sharpschool.com/departments_and_services/jefferson_virtual_academy

12. If you need tech help that is not addressed with the above link, reach out for help! There is a help line and you can also submit a request for help.
